On an integrable discretization of the modified Korteweg-de Vries equation

We find time discretizations for the two ''second flows'' of the Ablowitz-Ladik hierachy. These discretizations are described by local equations of motion, as opposed to the previously known ones, due to Taha and Ablowitz. Certain superpositions of our maps allow a one-field reduction and serve therefore as valid space-time discretizations of the modified Korteweg-de Vries equation. We expect the performance of these discretizations to be much better then that of the Taha-Ablowitz scheme. The way of finding interpolating Hamiltonians for our maps is also indicated, as well as the solution of an initial value problem in terms of matrix factorizations.Comment: 23 pages, LaTe

A NEW TAMPER DETECTION ALGORITHM FOR VIDEO

    Get PDF
Few years ago, authentication of visual media has regarded as a crucial research area which concerns with the development of methods and tools to determine if the digital media has been forged or not. The detection of video tampering was a concern of many researchers because of its important role in road accident, court events, and other applications. In this manuscript, a new low cost video forgery detection algorithm has been proposed by utilizing the correlation coefficients between the video frames and embedding them as an encrypted data into the first frame of the video stream. Experimental results show the high performance of the proposed algorithm regarding visual quality and robustness due to the ability to detect tampering even in simple and low-effect attacks

“Cloud computing” is a new technology that revolutionized the world of communications and information technologies. It collects a large number of possibilities, facilities, and developments, and uses the combining of various earlier inventions into something new and compelling. Despite all features of cloud computing, it faces big challenges in preserving data confidentiality and privacy. It has been subjected to numerous attacks and security breaches that have prompted people to hesitate to adopt it. This article provided comprehensive literature on the cloud computing concepts with a primary focus on the cloud computing security field, its top threats, and the protection against each one of them. Data security/privacy in the cloud environment is also discussed and homomorphic encryption (HE) was highlighted as a popular technique used to preserve the privacy of sensitive data in many applications of cloud computing. The article aimed to provide an adequate overview of both researchers and practitioners already working in the field of cloud computing security, and for those new in the field who are not yet fully equipped to understand the detailed and complex technical aspects of cloud computing

    Get PDF
In this study, The crude extraction of Isatis spp. (I.tinctoria, I.busichaina and I. lusitanica) were investigated for their antifungal activity. Each of methanol, ethanol, and H2O was used as a solvent. Due to find the most effective part of each species, the plant parts were used separately. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of the natural product on two common pathogenic fungi Aspergillus niger & Candida albicans. The results show that most of the used plants have a significant effect on both used fungal species. Extracted each of flower, I. tinctoria was shown the best results comparing to the other used species. Extracted leaf and flower of I. tinctoria by methanol was show the best result on Aspergillus niger & Candida albicans. The growth zone was around 90mm for control and  61mm at 75% concentration of methanolic and ethanolic extraction. The flower was for followed by the stem. Depend on the results, the methanol was shown the highest number, then ethanol and the lowest inhibition zone area was for H2O extraction.  &nbsp

To attain this objective, we define in this work a model that predicts temperature variations in a small stream according to climatic variables, such as air temperature, water flow and quantity of rainfall in the river catchment. Static neural networks were used as a technique for evaluation of the relations among the various variables, with a mean error of 0.7°C.In addition, we developed a forecasting model able to estimate the short-term and mid-term variations of water temperature, i.e., to forecast the temperature of days (j+i , i=1,2…) from climatic parameters of day j. Two methods were used: the first one is iterative and uses the estimated value of day j to estimate the value of the water temperature for day j+1. The second method is much simpler, involving an estimate of the temperature of all days at once. The Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm implemented in the Matlab neural network toolbox allowed a marked improvement in the performance of the model. Very satisfactory results were then obtained by testing the validity by cross validation technique with a mean error of 1.5°C for long term prediction of 7 days

Proposed Methodology for Community-Based Infrastructure Projects

    Get PDF
Community participation is considered as one of the key activities of local government development. The new role of communities in infrastructure projects is to act as a bridge between the governmental agencies and the individual households. Low-income groups are generally poor not only financially, but also weak in terms of their power to influence decisionmaking on matters relating to their livelihoods and development of services. They are often totally excluded from the government development processes of planning, budgeting and project implementation. There are many parties concerned with infrastructure development that should be involved in a systematic manner in the formation of public policies and local planning. This study proposes a methodology to deal with all involved parties in infrastructure projects and it is recommended that it be followed from the first phase of any project. The proposed methodology is based on the investigation of the best practices and lessons learned from projects implemented by different agencies in Palestine. It is recommended that municipalities should reshape the people's understanding of the role and capacity of municipalities and to develop new mechanisms to develop trust and transparent relations with communities

Introduction: GDM is a common medical problem that results from an increased severity of insulin resistance as well as an impairment of compensatory increase in insulin secretion. GDM is associated with a variety of maternal and fetal complications. Controversy surrounds the ideal approach for detecting GDM, and the approaches recommended for screening and diagnosis are largely based on expert opinion. Material and Method: This study enrolled 51 pregnant women aged between 20 and 39 years old. All women were invited to do fasting and two hours postprandial blood glucose every two weeks, 2 hr. 75g OGTT every trimester. Plasma glucose measurements were performed with glucose oxidase method using semi-automated spectrophotometer (Biosystems 310). Results and Conclusion: Both normal and GDM cases have normal glucose tolerance in early weeks of pregnancy. However, after 24 weeks of gestation progressive increment of hyperglycemia was obviously observed in GDM cases. Suitable cutoffs in diagnosis of GDM in third trimester are 97 mg/dl for fasting; 174 mg/dl for 1 hour; and 141 mg/dl for 2 hour. Sudan Journal of Medical Science Vol. 1 (2) December 2006: 109-11
